Section Detail
Overview

The Ukraine in 2300AD extends from the Sea Of Azov in the East to the borders of Hungary, Romania and Poland in the West. The region has always possessed a strong agricultural industry, which was especially important during the recovery from the Twilight War when the Ukraine fed much of famine stricken France and Western Europe.

The Ukraine has one colony, at Novoa Kiyev ( New Kiev ) on Aurore. Although not part of the ESA, the Ukraine has always had strong political and scientific ties with the member nations of the ESA and was granted a charter to survey this region of Aurore in 2241. The colony was established in 2244 and has suffered heavily at the hands of the Kafers during the ongoing Kafer War (2295-).

  • According to the scenarios presented with Star Cruiser, the Ukrainian fleet at or near Aurore consists of at least 1 CG, 3 DD and 2 FF. Note that no later reference refers to any destroyers. This implies that the three Kiev-class destroyers were casualties of the battles chronicled in Star Cruiser during 2298-2299.
  • According to Invasion, there are 2 CG and 5 FF under Admiral Yuri Vasilyvitch Leonov at Earth and 1 CG and 2 FF at Eta Bootis/Aurore under Kontr-Admiral Sergei Sergeivitch Borodin as of Summer 2301.
  • Operation : Overlord mentions 1 CG and 2 FF at Aurore and 2 FF at Hochbaden. We can derive that the vessels present at Aurore are as per Invasion, and that the two unnamed FF at Hochbaden were originally stationed at Earth under Admiral Leonov. The missing vessels ( 2 CG and 3 FF ) are presumed casualties of the Kafer War and the Battle Of Beowulf.
  • The Ukrainians also use CargoMax freighters ( as described in Star Cruiser ).
  • In general, the above references are consistent in terms of ship names and classes. The only real anomalies are due to the lack of solid information as to the fate of each vessel unaccounted for ( 3 DD, 2 CG and 3 FF are all presumed destroyed ).
  • Suggested names for the two unnamed frigates are Odessa and Dnepr.
  • Ship status sheets for all of these vessels can be found in Star Cruiser.
